Is QR TIGER free? The 500-scan limit on free codes

Three dynamic codes, free, with a per-code scan allowance. The number to look at before printing is 500.

Verified against QR TIGER's own pricing page on

QR TIGER gives you three dynamic codes on its free plan, with 500 scans allowed per dynamic code, and unlimited static codes that stay free. It is a freemium plan rather than a trial, which puts it ahead of the tools that switch your codes off after a week.

Five hundred scans sounds like a lot until you attach it to a physical placement. A single busy week on a menu or a well-placed sign can use it up, and it is a per-code allowance, so the three codes do not pool it between them.

The claim, so you can check it

QR TIGER's free plan allows 3 dynamic QR codes with 500 scans per dynamic QR code, per its own pricing page. Its lowest paid plan, Regular at US$7/month, raises that to 12 dynamic codes with unlimited scans. Checked 17 August 2026.

Where QR TIGER is a fair choice

Where QR TIGER is a fair choice. It is a mature, broad product: a long list of code types, solid design controls, bulk creation, an API on the higher tiers, and enterprise references. The paid entry point is genuinely cheap at US$7 a month for twelve dynamic codes with unlimited scans, which is less than we charge and a good deal if twelve codes is the shape of your need. If you want one platform covering many QR types with real depth behind it, that breadth is a fair reason to pick it.

Where it falls short for a printed code

The friction is specific to the free plan and to printed codes.

  • 500 scans is small for a printed placement. Anything on a counter, a table or a street-facing window can pass it inside a month. The number that matters is not how many scans you expect on average, it is how many the best placement gets in its best week.
  • The allowance is per code, not pooled. Three codes at 500 each is not 1,500 shared, so you cannot let one popular code absorb the quiet ones' headroom.
  • Three dynamic codes rules out the per-placement approach. Separate codes per table, per listing or per flyer version is how you find out which one works. Three does not cover that, so you end up with one code and no ability to compare.

The honest framing: the free plan is a demonstration of the product rather than a plan to print against, and the $7 tier is where it becomes usable for real placements.

How TangoQR is different

Our free plan does not count codes or cap scans. Unlimited codes, unlimited scans on each, all of them dynamic and editable, which means the per-placement approach is available without paying: a code per table, per listing, per flyer version, and a scan total on each so you can see which placement actually earned attention.

What we hold back on free is chart detail, not function. Past a code's first 50 scans the country, device and time-of-day breakdowns blur behind an upgrade while the total keeps climbing in the clear. So the thing that degrades is your view of the data, never the code on the wall.

Where they are ahead: their $7 tier undercuts our $10 Pro, and they cover more code types than we do. If twelve codes and unlimited scans for $7 is your requirement, that is a straight win for them and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Getting started, if you switch

The switch is only worth making at a reprint, so the useful move is to start printing new codes here and leave the existing ones alone until then.

  1. Make a code on our home page, pointed at the same destination. An email, no account.
  2. Download the SVG for print, PNG for screens, and use it on the next run.
  3. Split codes per placement if that is useful now that the count is not limited, and compare their scan totals.

Codes already printed elsewhere keep resolving through that provider, so check which of them are near a 500-scan ceiling before deciding what to reprint first.

Who should stay with QR TIGER

Stay with QR TIGER if you need many QR types in one place, bulk creation, or an API, and especially if their $7 tier covers your code count. Twelve dynamic codes with unlimited scans for less than our Pro price is a real advantage and we are not going to argue with it. Come to us instead when the thing you care about is a code you can repoint, on a free plan that does not stop when the code gets busy.

Common questions

Is QR TIGER free?

Partly. Static codes are unlimited and free, and the free plan includes three dynamic codes. Per its own pricing page those free dynamic codes allow 500 scans each, and basic scan analytics. It is a freemium plan rather than a time-limited trial, so the codes do not switch off on a date. Checked 17 August 2026.

What happens after 500 scans on a free QR TIGER code?

Their pricing page states the free allowance as 500 scans per dynamic QR code and their paid Regular plan as unlimited scans, which is the contrast the tiers are built on. We have not tested what a code does at scan 501 and we are not going to assert it from their pricing table, so treat 500 as the documented allowance and ask them what exceeding it does before you print against it.

How much is QR TIGER's cheapest paid plan?

US$7 a month for the Regular plan, which its pricing page lists as 12 dynamic QR codes with unlimited scans and downloads and advanced scan analytics. That is cheaper than our $10 Pro, and if twelve codes is enough for you it is the better-value option of the two. Checked 17 August 2026; read their pricing for current terms.

Does TangoQR limit how many codes or scans I get?

No, on both counts, on every plan. Codes are unlimited and scans are never capped or throttled. The free plan's limit is on chart detail past a code's first 50 scans, not on the code working. See pricing.

Can I keep my printed QR TIGER codes and switch?

Printed codes encode their redirect, so those keep pointing at QR TIGER until you reprint. There is no way for any provider to take over someone else's printed code. The practical approach is to print new codes here and repoint the old ones while they still resolve.

Which is better for printing at volume?

It depends on whether you are paying. Against their free plan, three codes and 500 scans each is the constraint to check against your real placement volumes. Against their $7 tier, twelve codes with unlimited scans is strong and may beat us outright. Our advantage is at zero: unlimited codes and uncapped scans on free, so a code that takes off does not need a plan change to keep working.
