Deep link

A deep link is a URL that opens a specific screen inside a mobile app rather than the app's home screen or a website.

A normal link opens a web page. A deep link opens a particular place in an installed app, like a product in a shopping app or a profile in a social app, and often falls back to the web or an app-store page if the app isn't installed. It's how a scan can drop someone straight into the right spot instead of making them navigate.

Because deep-link formats change as apps and platforms evolve, putting one behind an editable redirect is safer than baking it into a static code: if the deep-link scheme changes, you repoint the code instead of reprinting.
